Build Canada Homes + CABN: A Shared Vision for Canada’s Future
The Government of Canada has launched the Build Canada Homes (BCH) program— a bold $13 billion plan to build housing directly on public land. It’s an ambitious move, designed to speed up delivery, strengthen Canadian supply chains, and ensure homes are affordable and sustainable for the long term.
At CABN, this vision feels familiar. It’s the very foundation of what we’ve been building from the start: a Canadian, factory-built, net-zero housing platform ready to deliver quickly — in major cities, in rural communities, and across the North. Read our official news release here.
BCH is prioritizing homes built in factories, with the first wave targeting six cities across Canada. CABN is already there. Our Brockville Advanced Manufacturing Facility, with robotics and advanced manufacturing at full capacity, can produce around 300 homes a year, per shift. We’ve developed “Site Playbooks” that standardize site planning, utilities, and installation to cut down on build times. And with our Turnkey Community Plans, municipalities can deploy whole neighbourhoods faster and with confidence.
The federal program also calls for using Canadian lumber and mass timber. CABN has been committed to this from day one. Our CABN CORE TECHNOLOGY™ CLT Envelopes are Canadian-made, energy-positive, and designed for factory efficiency. Projects out of our CABN R+D Labs, such as our red pine CLT testing, show how under-utilized Canadian timber can be transformed into homes — creating jobs and value right here at home.
BCH will oversee and lead construction on federal land, aiming for certainty and accountability. CABN has proven how this can work. Our federally-funded showhome demonstrates net-zero, factory-built housing that municipalities can trust and replicate. With our “Trees-to-Keys” model, we handle every step — from design through installation — reducing risk and ensuring quality at scale.
Whether it’s the first 4,000 homes in cities, 700 homes in Nunavut, or transitional housing for people in need, BCH recognizes that every community has unique needs. CABN’s designs reflect that. Our Remote Deployment Kits bring rugged, pre-commissioned systems to northern and Indigenous communities. Our Transitional Housing Units can be installed quickly and relocated when needs shift. Our Supportive Micro-Suite Clusters provide safe, staffed environments for vulnerable populations.
Protecting affordability isn’t just about the price to build — it’s about the cost to operate over decades. CABN homes are energy-positive by design. High-performance shells, heat-pump HVAC, and solar-plus-storage options all reduce monthly costs and guard against rising utility prices.
BCH also aims to modernize construction in Canada, cutting timelines, reducing costs, and lowering emissions. CABN is already contributing. Our builder training programs upskill workers in advanced construction methods. Our Brockville facility integrates digital QA and standardized commissioning to turn energy models into repeatable outcomes.
Build Canada Homes lays out the vision. CABN is the ready-made execution partner. We’re Canadian, factory-built, and mass-timber by design. With our people, our playbooks, and our proven technology, CABN is prepared to deliver housing that is faster, greener, and more affordable — right across the country.
